The reluctant hero
Billie.
Worried. Will go anyway.
Not the loudest voice in the room. Usually the one still trying to make the plan work.

BEHIND THE HELMET
A little about Billie.
Warm, resourceful and a little physically unlucky. Billie worries about the small things, then gets on with the very big problem in front of him.
THE ROAD TO OUTPOST 81
Billie came to Outpost 81 with the rest of Captain Jake’s banished crew. He is an ordinary crewmate trying to do a difficult job well, easily swept along by a captain who always sounds certain.
Then the outpost comes under attack. There is a suit to find, a keypad to negotiate and an escape ship that has seen better days. Billie’s way through is rarely graceful, but he keeps looking for something that might work.
- His place in the crew
- The heart of the team
- Dream interruption
- A fluffy alien with a very tired joke
- Under pressure
- Fumbles first. Improvises next.
